"Can the Child Care Council provide me with my child care provider's social security number or tax ID number?"
It is a question parents often ask of us here at the Child Care Council, especially at tax time in order for parents to claim the amount of money they have spent on child care during the previous year. The Child Care Council does not release private information such as a child care provider's social security number or tax ID number to parents or to others. Our recommendation is to obtain this information directly from your child care provider at the commencement of child care services. This could save you much stress and time later on!

Financial Assistance

Types of Financial Assistance available to families to help cover the cost of child care include:

Child Care Subsidies

Child care subsidies provide financial assistance to qualifying families with the cost of child care. Subsidies are offered through each county's Department of Social Services. To find out more information about child care subsidies, or to apply for child care subsidies, contact your county's Department of Social Services Day Care Unit:

Workforce Development Institute Child Care Subsidy
This grant subsidy program provides child care subsidies to working families in Oneida County with incomes up to 275% of the established Federal Poverty Level (FPL). For more information, including eligibility and income guidelines, visit the Workforce Development Institute or contact them at 793-5305.

Military Partnerships
The U.S. Military Services have several programs available to help military families afford the cost of child care. For information on these programs, visit the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) to learn more.

Federal Employee Benefits
Full- or part-time federal employees may be eligible for assistance paying for child care through the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund.

Individual Employer Benefits
Check with your employer to learn about child care benefits that may be available to you from your individual employer.
